Before dinner we all played in the back yard and had an Easter egg hunt for Jonny.
Josh, Audrey & I hid all the eggs. Jonny kind of gave up in the middle of the hunt and started playing basket ball, so Josh dazzled us with his AMAZING basketball skills.
Watch for Jonny to disappear into the garage and then come back with another "egg".
because I seem to have many adventures these days.
Most involving Audrey & Jonny! Yeay!!!
Where are we off to Miss Maydan?
Denver March Powwow!
Woohoo!
After paying our admission and getting stamped in weird places, we were in!
I don't think Jonny knew what to expect, he's never even heard the
term "powwow" before, but he sure sounds cute saying it.
"Lets go to powwow now Mom"
We grabbed some seats and watched a horse down on the show floor.
Jonny sat with his legs crossed.
Since nothing was really happening yet,
we decided to walk the hallways and look at the merch.
I ended up purchasing some mighty fine greeting cards from Waawaaskonenhens.
Say that twice!
This is what sold me!
We made our way back into the arena as the powwow royalty was introduced.
All of the girls greeted and congratulated each other all the way down the line!
Look at all those princesses!
Before we knew it, it was time for the "Grand Entry". This is where they raise the flags, like color guard, and all of the dancers, drummers and singers that are representing their tribes take the floor.
Here is the beginning with no one on the floor.
The drums lead the way...
Here are some of the girl dancers.
Grand entry feels so magical. Maybe its because men, woman, elders and children are all together dancing, and no one seems to outshine each other.
Its a perfect and complicated sight all at once!
Everyone dances in a spiral circle, moving towards the center...
...until there is a sea of people on the arena floor.
Jonny was completely captivated by the entire display!
Isn't the amount of people amazing?
If you never have been to powwow, I highly recommend it.
Its 5280 restaurant week in Denver! Restaurants that normally cost an arm and leg, have a special menu at the low low price of $52.80. Its not uncommon to score a 5 course meal. Fantastic!
For the last night of 5280 I met Sheena, Audrey and Jonny at Ernie's.
We cheers'd in celebration!
Guess who loves calamari???
Yum!
All in all it was a great night!
A few days later I packed my bags. I have a new friend to meet!
Bennett!!!!!
My b.f.f. Stacey and her fiance Brad are the proud parents of this little dude.
To celebrate our reunion, we headed out to Pho King.
No Pho King way! Yes way!
This trip to Austin was MUCH different than my last.
I got my first babysitting gig straight away!
May I just add that Auntie Jess is the baby whisperer. I think I might just have the midas touch!
Stacey looks incredible & she's a total natural.
I hope all this holding babies rubs some fertility off on me, lol!
Multi tasking already!
Holy cow he is ADORABLE!
Stace took me to her favorite cupcake shop, "Polkadots".
It was delish!
What a goofball!
That night we made sushi for dinner.
And then totally grubbed every last bit.
The next night Brad took me out for a night on the town during SxSW. We hit up a few bars and saw a few bands before we made our way to the "Oak Tree", where we saw "Spazomatic". This band TOTALLY rocked. All 80's covers!
I believe I was singing "Footloose"!
Austin, TX is always a good time. I'm so happy for Stacey and Brad.
